Research: South Africa, Western Cape and Genadedal

Hi!
Before our journey to South Africa, we have to collect some information about South Africa, Western Cape and Genadedal. In this way I will get to know the country and region where we'll stay.
South Africa is the most southern country in Africa. The neighbour countries of South Africa are Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and Swaziland. It's surrounded by the Atlantic and Indian ocean and around 53 million people are living in South Africa.
Though English is commonly used in public and commercial life, it is only the fifth most-spoken home language.
Western cape is a province in South Africa with over 5 million inhabitants. This is the province we will visit the most during the two weeks. The capital city of Western Cape is Cape Town. There're many things to see in Western cape, like the table mountain, cape point and Robbeneiland. Most of them we'll visit as well. Robbeneiland is an island along the coast of South Africa near Cape Town. It's known for its past, when criminals were kept on the island. The most famous 'criminal' is named Nelson Mandela. He was kept in this prison because he was one of the 'anti - apartheidsstrijders'. In 1996 they closed Robbenisland. Nowadays Robbeneiland has become a tourist activity.
During our two weeks we'll stay in Genadedal. A small village in Western Cape, 90 minutes away from Cape Town. The school we are going to visit is located in Genadedal as well. At this school, (named Emiel Weder) we are going to give a small lesson. Before our departure we're going to collect some money. This money will also be used partly for this school. I wonder how much these schools differ from the schools in the Netherlands.
This small introduction of South Africa, Western Cape and Genadedal gives me a better view of these areas. I can use this information when I'm in South Africa. Still six months to go!
